Today we will be introducing `Kenninji`（建仁寺） located near TSUKIMI HOTEL.
Kenninji Temple is under the group of Rinzai school of Zen Buddhism, Omotoyama,
which the official name is Higashiyama Kennin-Zen-ji. (東山 建仁禅寺）
Within the vast space, there are a large number of subsidiary temples, and famous for having many cultural assets, including the wind and thunder god folding screen.
The beautiful gardens are famous in Kenninji.
Inside the temple, there are three gardens.
`Circle-triangle-square garden` : the meaning of it originates from the four major idea of `Earth, water, fire, air`.
You will be able to find the beautiful the well, moss, and the white sands in the garden when you see the gardens.
In addition, Kennin-ji Temple is said to be Kyoto’s oldest Zen temple, and you can experience Zazen and Shakyo.
The name of ‘Senkokai’ which is Zazen meeting are held:
Every month from 8 am on the 2nd Sunday
Individuals can participate free of charge without making reservations.
